The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sent a congratulatory note to one of its founding fathers, former Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT) and former Minister of Works and Housing, Chief Anthony Anenih, CFR, the Iyasele of Esanland as he attains the age of 85 years.

In a release from the office of its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party recalled with pride the fatherly and stabilising role Chief Anenih played both in the formative years of the party and the years when the party was in control of governance at the centre.

Said Ologbondiyan, “the PDP notes that Chief Anenih put his wealth of experience as a political strategist and mobiliser, particularly in ensuring that the party remained the standard bearer for majority of politicians in the country. His belief in the unity and oneness of PDP family was exceptional.

“The PDP also recalls the outstanding roles Chief Anenih played in stabilizing our national polity, particularly when he served as minister.

“The PDP family is happy that at the grand age of 85 years, the Iyasele of Esanland can still look back to see that the party he helped to nurture still remains the platform of choice for majority of our compatriots.

“The party, therefore, wishes him many more years in good health, so that the nation will continue to tap from his fountain of knowledge.”
