Why Ogun Assembly Reconstituted Its Standing Committees

As part of its unrelenting quest at promoting good governance, particularly the success of the ongoing rebuilding mission in Ogun State, the State House of Assembly has reconstituted its twenty-two standing Committees.

The constitution of the committees followed the presentation of the report of the ad-hoc Committee by the deputy Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, who also moved the motion for its adoption, which was seconded by Hon. Akinpelu Aina and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote at the plenary presided over by Speaker Suraju Ishola Adekunbi at the Assembly Complex,  Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

The new House standing Committees according to Oluomo has  Olusola Bankole as Chairman of Works and Infrastructure Committee, while Mojeed Soyebo  would head Transport Committee, just as Victor Fasanya  would be in charge of Finance and Appropriation, while Committee on Health has Israel Jolaoso as Chairman just as Education Science and Technology would be headed by Olayiwola Ojodu.

The report added that Ganiyu Oyedeji would be in charge of Agriculture and Forestry, Tunde Sanusi  to take charge of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Affairs, with Julianah Akintayo heading Women Affairs and Social Development, while Bowale Solaja would lead  Environment Committee, while, Adeyemi Harrisson would be in charge of Youth,  Sports and Employment Generation.

Other committee chairmen are: Honourables Yetunde Sogbein-Adekanbi  in charge of Lands and Housing, Aina Akinpelu to head Information, Culture and Tourism, while Oyenuga Olufowobi would chair Commerce,  Investment and Industries, Olujimi Otukoya  to head Oil, Gas, Energy, Water Resources and Rural Development while Oludare Kadiri would take charge of Special Duties.

The rest are Rasaq Oduntan in charge of Public Accounts and Anti-corruption, just as Olusola Sonuga would be in charge of House Services,  while Viwanu Ojo would head Establishments and Public Service matters, with Adebowale Ojuri heading Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions,  while, Adebiyi Adeleye  would chair Cooperatives and Community Development Committee.

The report concluded that the Speaker, remained the Chairman of Selection Committee as well as Committee on Rules, Bills and Resolutions with his Deputy,  Olakunle Oluomo as Vice-Chairman.
