Political appointees in the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo Oyo State who have aspirations to contest in 2019 have been ordered to immediately resign their appointments.
The Governor had earlier gave this hint on Friday when he informally met the aspirants on Friday in the Exco Chamber of his office.
He told them pointedly that they needed to quit so that others would be given chance to enjoy democratic dividends.
By Saturday, when he met with gubernatorial aspirants in the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC), he then made it crystal clear on why the appointees needed to resign their appointments.
The governor said that it was mandatory that they resign their appointments immediately, adding that some of them no longer have time for their jobs.
Ajimobi stated that resigning would give them the opportunity to concentrate on their aspirations while providing others opportunity to serve.
The governor, however, affirmed that his focus is that the standard of governance must not fall, adding that APC is being positioned to win all massively in 2019.
Some of the faces seen at the meeting the governor had with gubernatorial aspirants included those of Engineer Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Olusola Ayandele, Barrister Adeniyi Akintola, Mr Ayodele Karim, Barrister Akeem Agbaje and several others.
