Tourism Expert Highlights Health Benefits Of Walking

Cultural tourism ambassador and member of National Association of Nigeria Travel Agency (NANTA) Erelu Funmi Rotiba has highlighted the numerous health benefits of walking while taking part in ‘Awareness Walk’ organized by the body to fight quackery in the travel sector held recently.

“You’ll be amazed at the health benefits from this quick and easy walk routine, though we organized it to sensitized the public on the need to be aware of impostors parading themselves as travel agents but it has also come with great health benefits for us”, said the tour broker.

Her words: “There’s a good chance that it’ll keep the doctor away, going for regular walks is one of the best and easiest things you can do for your health. From helping you lose weight and de-stress to lowering your blood pressure and reducing your risk of many chronic diseases.

“Walking is the number one exercise I recommend to most of my colleagues because it is very easy to do, it requires nothing but a pair of tennis shoes, and has tremendous mental and physical benefits,” she said.

“Here’s what you can expect when you start walking for just 30 minutes every day, most days of the week.

“Your mood will improve; research shows that regular walking actually modifies your nervous system so much that you’ll experience a decrease in anger and hostility which boosts mood. You’ll also keep your legs looking great because as we age, however, walking is a proven way to prevent those unsightly lines from developing.

The widely travel lady added that the major aim of the exercise is to warn the public against the patronage of charlatans masquerading as genuine travel agents by demanding for their certification documents as NANTA member before transacting any business with them.

The road walk which was lead by Olatokubo Dagunduro, Zonal vice chairman, was done in conjunction with Oyo state Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture and Ministry of Women Affairs took off at NANTA, zonal office Adamasingba Ibadan through to Sabo, Mokola, Agodi, Bodija Sango Dugbe J-allen and other areas in Ibadan metropolis.
