Hon. Saheed Ajadi Emerges Accord Guber Candidate In Oyo, As Ajaja Clinches Reps’ Ticket

Hon. Saheed Ajadi has emerged as the Accord governorship candidate for Oyo State gubernatorial election in 2019.

The Accord primaries election which was conducted at the Ground Serene Hotel, Iyaganku Quarters, Ibadan on Thursday, 4th of October, 2018, witnessed the presence of the representatives from the party’s national Secretariat and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Announcing the result, the chairman of electoral body, Mr. Sikiru Adeposi declared Hon. Ajadi the winner of the keenly contested primary election by polling a total vote of 107 to beat his closed rival, Prof. Olaiya Abideen who scored 40 votes, while Hon. Muritala Kayode came distant third, scoring seven votes.

Mr. Adeposi disclosed that one hundred and fifty seven delegated were accredited for the election, one is void, while two absent.

In his acceptance speech, Ajadi commended the spirit of sportsmanship of his co-contestants and promised not to disappoint the trust reposed in him by the teeming members of the party.

“I can see the commitment of members in Accord, and I assure you that I will not disappoint you as your candidate and promise to form an inclusive government by the grace of God in 2019” he said.

He, however, urged party members to remain steadfast and committed to the party in order to win the general election.

Hon. Ajadi described the process as a peaceful, cordial and transparent exercise. He said work has just started and express his hope that Accord will form the government of Oyo state come 2019.

“By the grace of God, Accord will win the next governorship election in the Oyo state and I will form the government come 2919. It is going to be the victory of the masses, victory of the youth, victory of the elders, and the victory of hardworking people of the Oyo state, which include the artisans, okada riders. and most especially the victory of the unemployed because the time has come for them to get employed

The gubernatorial candidate promised to revamp the agricultural sector and ensure that farmers get their due in time to allow food buoyancy in the state.

In a related development, the chieftain of Accord in Oyo State and National Secretary of the party, Hon. Adebukola Ajaja has also won the House of Representatives ticket of Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency.

Reacting to her victory, Ajaja, a former House of Representatives member expressed happiness on the new mandate she got from members of Accord to represent them in the federal House of Representatives and promised to do better.

“My focus if I win next year’s election will be to give good representation at the green chamber, and ensuring that those more federal projects are attracted to my constituency” she said.

Hon. Ajaja defeated Hon. Kehinde Oloya, a serving member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the Chairman House Committee on Trade and Commerce.
