OGHA Seeks Works Ministry, FG’s Intervention On Road Reconstruction

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi has again called on the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc Olamilekan  Adegbite, to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to devise permanent solution in addressing the failing portions along the Lagos-Abeokuta road as well as Agbara-Atan road in the State.

The call which was in response to the presentations by a member representing Ado-Odo/ Ota 1 and II State constituencies, Honourables Akinpelu Aina and Akanbi Bankole who spoke under personal explanation on the need to find a permanent solution to the deplorable portions of the Lagos-Abeokuta between Sango/Ota and Ifo as well as Agbara and Atan Ota road.

Adekunbi acknowledged that the State Government in conjunction with the Federal Government had embarked on palliative measures at different times in the past, saying that the portion referred was below the sea level, the reason he noted was responsible for the continuous failing of the road due to perennial flooding.

He sought for collaboration between the two agencies in finding a lasting solution to the roads to ease human and vehicular movements in the areas.

Earlier in his presentation, Hon. Aina complained about the slow pace of work at the site, urging the site engineers to increase the pace of work as well as number of labourers in order to ensure the timely completion of the project. He also suggested the need to include the construction of drainage channels in the project designs for flood control.

In another development, the State House of Assembly has directed the State Commissioner for Finance, Wale Osinowo and his Budget and Planning counterpart, Ms Adenrele Adesina to appear before the it  on  Friday, October 12, 2018.
