Ogun Assembly Ready To Screen Justice Dipeolu, Receives Six Bills From Amosun

Ogun State House of Assembly has invited the State Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu to appear before the House on Tuesday, October 17, 2018 for screening preparatory to her confirmation as the substantive Chief Judge of the State.

The invitation followed the request letter to the Assembly read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi before members that the request for the confirmation of Justice Dipeolu was as a result of the retirement of the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Tokunbo Olopade and the subsequent confirmation of Hon. Justice Dipeolu by the National Judicial Council vide the letter dated 4th, October, 2018.

The Speaker directed that the Ag Chief Judge come along with 30 copies each of her Curriculum Vitae and the original and photocopies of credentials at 10.00am prompt.

In the same vein, the Assembly also acknowledged the receipt of the six bills from the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The Speaker, who read the Governor’s separate letters dated 15th October, 2018 before members said that the bills were: A Bill for a Law to amend Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board Law 2012; a Bill for a Law to Establish the Ogun State Centre for African Drum Festival as an annual International Cultural event in the State and a Board for the Management of the affairs of the Centre, 2018.

It also included: A bill for a Law to Provide for Public Private Partnerships, Establish the Office of Public Private Partnerships, Enhance Infrastructure and Service Development, 2018 as well as a Bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme and the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme Governing Board, 2018.

Other were: A Bill for a Law to Regulate Rights and Obligations under Tenancy Agreements and the Relationship between the Landlord and the tenant including the procedure for the recovery of premises in Ogun State, 2018 as well as a Bill for a Law to Establish the Ogun State Mortgages and Foreclosure, Authority, Regulate Mortgages Creation, Foreclosure and Enforcement of Mortgages in Real Property, 2018.

The proposed bills according to the Governor were approved by the State Executive Council for the kind consideration and passage of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Speaker Adekunbi at the plenary advised the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to as a matter of urgency provide palliatives along Lafenwa/Ayetoro Road as well as Brewery/ Olomore Federal Housing Road to ease human and vehicular movements along the axis.

Adekunbi make the call, while responding to the submissions of a member representing Abeokuta North State Constituency, Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, who spoke under personal explanation on the need to fix the roads which according to him, remained a major catalyst in boosting business investments and social benefits of residents and other road users in the areas.
