Ogun Assembly Charges Ag. Chief Judge On Effective Justice Administration

Ogun State House of Assembly, Wednesday, screened the State Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu as earlier requested in a letter forwarded to it by the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun with a charge on her to bring her wealth of experience to bear so as to further reposition the State judiciary for optimum performance.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, who chaired the Committee of the whole House, gave the charge during the appearance of Justice Dipeolu before members of the State House of Assembly.

He urged the State Acting Chief Judge to set machineries in motion to sustain the effective and speedy dispensation of justice to the people of the State.

Also speaking, the State lawmakers in their separate submissions tasked Hon. Justice Dipeolu to make the State judiciary dynamic, innovative and proactive by achieving independent reforms and well-organized justice dispensation in the State, when eventually confirmed by the Assembly and sworn in by the Governor.

They all acknowledged that the new Acting Chief Judge was eminently qualified to hold the highest seat in the temple of justice in the State, considering her experience and qualifications.

Earlier in her presentation, Justice Dipeolu assured of the sustainability of the existing harmonious mutual interdependence among all arms of government, which she noted would be sustained without any interference from any quarters; assuring that a Grade 1 Customary Court would soon be re-established in Ijebu-Ode to fast track justice administration.

Dipeolu, who pledged her commitment towards promoting rule of law, accountability and transparency, assuring that she would continue to uphold the principle of equity and fairness as well as accessibility to justice by all and sundry.

She disclosed that additional Multi-door Court would be established in other parts of the State aside the one established in Abeokuta and Ijebu -Ode.

 On the need to check illegal detention of suspects, she promised that aside the Chief Judge who will be visiting prisons from time to time to reduce illegal detention in line with her roles under prerogative of mercy to give amnesty to deserving inmates; the new criminal justice act had also empowered Magistrates to visit police Stations and detention cells to grant bails to suspects.
