Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has revealed that he started planning to occupy the seat of the governor of the state since 1999.
The youthful politician made his revelation over the weekend while playing host to social media practitioners at his Jericho, Ibadan base.
He said he took his time since then by planning meticulously and making the right contacts with the right set of people adding that he got himself psychologically prepared and is now ready to serve with all seriousness.
Adelabu, while explaining why he should be taken seriously submitted “When I left what some of you will like to describe as a plum job as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, many told me I was crazy.
“But I will say it here today that I knew what I was doing. For leaving my plum job, I think I made a very strong point to show that I am sincerely interested in serving the people of my state.
“By the grace of God, our campaign activities will be development-focused. We will prove that politics is not for touts. I therefore urge all our youths to play active roles in ensuring that I am voted in as governor of Oyo State come 2019.”
The Parakoyi of Ibadanland also took time to explain that there is absolute unity in today’s APC in the state.
His words “I can confirm here that I am in close contact with all my colleagues in the party who contested for APC’s gubernatorial ticket. Dr Azeez Adeduntan, Barrister Adeniyi Akintola, Engineer Olasunkanmi Tegbe and others. We are going to work together to ensure that our leader, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is effectively succeeded by my humble self.”
