Amosun’s Govt To Conduct Workers’ Promotion Arrears Soon

Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s government in Ogun State has said that the civil service plays a pivotal role in the promotion of good governance, hence, government will continue to accord high priority to its welfare.

To this end, plans are underway to effect the arrears of promotion to public servants in the State.

The Permanent Secretary (Service Matters) under the office of the State Head of Service, Mrs Modupe Bosede, gave the assurance while fielding questions from members of the House Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters led by Hon. Viwanu Ojo during the ongoing 2018 budget assessment visit to the Office of the Head of Service, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Bosede who promised Government’s commitment at ensuring a system driven service to consolidate on the successes of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration,  reassured that government was committed to ensuring a better working condition for its workers to further promote efficiency in service delivery.

Taking his turn to reel out the performance of the State Bureau of State Pensions, the Director, Contributory Pension scheme, Mr Femi Ogundimu said that the State had paid monthly pension to the tune of over N6.3bn between January and September, 2018.

Ogundimu, who said that the Bureau was irrevocably commitment to the welfare of the senior citizens and the entire workforce, affirmed that pensioners in the State receive their monthly pension simultaneously when the serving workers also receive their salaries.

In a related development, the Permanent Secretary in the State Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs Mojisola Adewunmi, said that the Bureau had provided capacity building programmes for administrative officers,  accountants, auditors, medical laboratory scientists and others in the sub-cadre categories in their various schedules to ensure positive impact on their job performance.

Mrs Dosunmu said that the training was borne out of government strategies towards ensuring that the State remained passionately committed to the pursuit of excellence and quality service to the members of the public.

Members of the Committee including  Ganiyu Oyedeji,  Tunde Sanusi, Akanbi Bankole, Julianah Akintayo and Bowale Solaja underscored the critical role of public servants in the running of government business, while challenging all the bureaux to evolve more measures towards making  the public service more productive.
