President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned with the Awe traditional council, the government and people of Nasarawa State on the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Umar II, the Emir of Awe.

In a statement from the Presidency, Buhari also extended his sincere condolences to the late Emir’s family and the people of Awe whom he led for many years with dedication and unrelenting commitment to peace and development.

The President said he believes that with the outpouring of grief in the state and beyond in the aftermath of the Emir’s demise, it is clear that the first class traditional ruler was well loved by his people, sacrificed a lot for their advancement and has left a legacy of hard work, peace building, selflessness and patriotism for his subject and admirers to build upon.

The President prayed that Almighty Allah will receive Alhaji Umar’s soul and grant his people a worthy successor who will build on the commendable legacies of his life of service to community and country.
