Shehu Resumes Training After 4-Week Layoff Over Injury

Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi has resumed training after missing the team’s last four matches with ‘muscle contraptions’ in the quadriceps on his right leg during Nigeria’s 4-0 thumping of Libya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

The 25-year-old Bursaspor utility player who played for 23 minutes before he was subbed off due to the injury in took part in his team’s training session earlier this week ahead of their home game against Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig.

A close source to Shehu Abdullahi revealed that the Nigeria international could get some minutes on Sunday against Kasimpasa.

“He (Shehu) should get some minutes on Sunday because he trained well and felt no relapse after the injury setback,” a close source to Shehu said.

Bursaspor, currently 11th in the Turkish Super Lig table, were held to a 1-1 away draw byTrabzonspor in their last game.

The former Anorthosis Famagusta defender has played only one game this season after 11 rounds of matches.

He was one of the several players left out of Nigeria’s squad to face South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg next Friday.
