The paramount ruler of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji in his Popoyemoja palace on Friday flagged-off the youth empowerment scheme organized and sponsored by an Ibadan based firm, Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Center to alleviate unemployment scourge facing Nigerian youths in commemoration of the 90th birthday of the monarch.

“Giving a lifeline to people, especially our youths is what pleases God and I believe should not be left to government alone, that is why I am happy with this my daughter for deeming it fit to do this to commemorate my birthday.

“One of the biggest challenges facing our society today is unemployment, and any effort towards tackling it should be highly appreciated and commended”, Olubadan noted in his remark.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kayrom Lee, Romoke Ayinde in her address expressed her delight to bankroll the scheme, saying the monarch has demonstrated keen interest in encouraging youths especially through capacity building and that was why she considered the idea to complement the monarch with the empowerment program.

The youth empowerment scheme was designed according to the ambassador of peace with the aim to train 60 youths free in Fashion designing, facial makeup, barbing, laundry and agriculture (both farming and livestock) businesses while they would be empowered to establish the vocation after the scheduled training.

“For instance, youths that are interested in livestock farming will be given birds for rearing to the point of laying eggs, while some assigned to cash crop farming will be provided with parcels of land and agric instructors”.

The firm also presented other gift items like chairs, shuttle bags and promotional souvenirs to everyone in the palace.
