Super Falcons midfielder, Rita Chikwelu has expressed that their Africa Women’s Cup of Nations semi final clash with Cameroon will be tough and urges her teammates not to get carried away with their back to back win against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea.

The Falcons won their last two Group B games against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea to book a semi-final with the Cameroonians who finished first in Group A.

Speaking after their training session in Accra, the experienced midfielder said the clash with the Lioness of Cameroon won’t be an easy one, but assured Nigerians that the team will do everything possible to make it to the final.

“I’m so happy I scored my first goal in the African Women Cup of Nations, also happy the team did well in the last game.

“Against Cameroon, it will not be easy considering the last final, but we will give our best to ensure we make it to the final of AWCON.”

Chikwelu who shares the responsibility of leading the team with Onome Ebi showered encomium on the Nigerian Football Federation for paying all the team allowances, As she believes the move has motivated the girls to do well.

“You can see that in the 2nd and 3rd game, the girls were happy for what the NFF had done, before our 2nd game we got all our entitlements and they gave us the support we need, we hope they continue as we will continue to do our best.”

The Super Falcons will clash with the Lioness of Cameroon on Tuesday by 3:30pm GMT/4:30pm Nigeria time.
