After weeks of speculations, former Governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has officially announced his move to Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and he has also given his reasons.
The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland also declared former Chairman, Odua Conglomerate, Barrister Sharafadeen Ali as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.
Senator Ladoja disclosed this during a media interactive session held at his Bodija House today, Thursday, 6th December, 2018 to put an end to social media’s speculations.
While explaining factors that played out during his short stay in African Democratic Congress (ADC), noted that ADC as a party was under the control of ‘invisible elements’.
Senator Ladoja noted his decision not to comment on various moves by those people calling the shots was to give them the chance for a rethink and allow sanity to prevail.
He emphasized that he does not hold grievances personally against anybody, stating that his agitation was to see his party winning the elections come 2019 irrespective of the party’s name.
Senator Ladoja maintained that the imbalance in the sharing formula of the elective positions was the main cause of his agitation, he cited Oyo federal constituency as a good example of how elective positions should be shared.
He noted that all the four elective positions in the constituency were shared among all parties involved in the ADC amalgamation.
The Otun Olubadan also reiterated that he has on different occasions discussed with ADC gubernatorial candidate, Olufemi Lanlehin on the various issue as far as the party is concerned, even on the choice of his deputy, who was picked without his consent.
He opined that his decision to declare for Zenith Labour Party was borne out of the agreement reached by his teeming followers, who have been waiting tirelessly in ADC.
Senator Ladoja expressed that his new party, ZLP has everything and has put necessary measures in place to win the governorship election come 2019.
