Kayrom Lee Wins 2018 Aquatic Association’s U-15 Swimming Tourney

Kayrom Lee Swimming Academy has emerged winners of the 2018 Oyo State Aquatic Association Swimming Competition designed for pupils within the ages of 3 to 15 years recently held at the training swimming pool of former Liberty Stadium, now Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The swimming school won 23 Gold 15 Silver and 18 Bronze medals to emerge as the champion of the tournament that had about five other swimming academies that participated.

Smart Swimming Academy got 11 Gold 7 Silver and 3 Bronze medals to finish as the runners-up while the Water Skill Swimming Academy ended in the third position with 6 Gold 17 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the swimming event included Architect Muyiwa Ige, Chairman Oyo State Aquatic, Femi Ajao the zonal coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, South/West zone.

The financier of the event who also owns Kayrom Lee Swimming Academy, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde in her remarks said that the 2017 edition of the swimming tournament was held at the swimming pool of the University of Ibadan in memory of the late Attorney General of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ige.

She, however, expressed her satisfactions over performances of her wards saying, “my plan and desire is see some of these kids representing Oyo State and Nigeria in a short-while, that is why we employed a good swimming trainer for them”.

The chairman of Aquatic Association of Oyo State Arc, Muyiwa Ige in his own remark urged parents to eschew water phobia which is always responsible for their decisions for preventing their wards from taking part in swimming, describing swimming as one of sports that has a great health benefit to people of all ages.

“We are working hard to produce good swimmers for the state and by extension the country so that we can bring back the former glory of Oyo State because we have good and best swimmers around”, the former commissioner for Urban and Regional planning in Osun State noted.

He added that “Swimming attracts more medals at most team sports in the major competitions like Olympics and that is why we are urging governments at all levels to provide good facilities and enabling environments to compliment the efforts of the Aquatic Association in discovering budding talents for swimming sport.”
