Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose has triggered his exit from Scottish Premier league side Hibernian after turning down a new three year contract from the Club.

The Nigeria international who arrived Edinburgh on Initial loan deal from Celtic back in 2017 before joining the Neil Lennon’s side permanently on a two-year deal and helped the Club gain promotion to the Scottish top-flight in the process.

The Nigeria international exit was confirmed In a statement released by the Club.

“Hibernian can confirm the departure of Efe Ambrose,” read the club statement.

“The 30-year-old center-back has invoked a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Easter Road Stadium this month, having indicated a desire to pursue an opportunity elsewhere and, therefore, turn down an improved three-year contract to extend his stay in Edinburgh.

“A popular figure with players, staff and supporters alike, the club made every effort to keep Efe but respect his decision and thank him for his contribution.

“He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Hibernian.”

The 2013 AFCON winning defender who has been linked with a move to English Premier league side Cardiff City won four Premier League titles, a Championship title, one FA Cup and two League Cups in six and half years in Scotland.
