Nigeria international, Chinedu Obasi has explained why he penned a deal with Swedish Allsvenskan side AIK for the third time in his career.
The 32-year-old striker was on the books of IF Elfsborg for four months in 2018 after an uneventful spell at Bolton Wanderers.
”Yes, of course it was. But when AIK came … I have always had a special bond with AIK and I went to Elfsborg to be able to come back to AIK later,” Obasi said to fotbolldirekt.se.
”My idea was always to play in AIK. I’ve said it before, if I play somewhere in Sweden it should be in AIK.
”It was a good experience in Elfsborg but unfortunately it didn’t go so well. I think AIK is a better place for me. It suits me better to compete at a higher level.”
Obasi’s agreement with AIK will run out at the end of the 2019 season.
