Fayemi’s Government Moves To Resuscitate Government Printing Press

In a bid to make another abandoned government valuable property functional and yield revenue into government coffers again, the Kayode Fayemi-led administration in Ekiti State has taken another bold step to resuscitate the moribund Government Printing Press which was neglected by the last administration.

The Acting Head of Service in Ekiti State, Mrs. Peju Babafemi while receiving the report of the Committee set up to look into how the long abandoned  Ekiti State Printing Press could be make functional again in her office in Ado-Ekiti, noted that steps already taken by  Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration since it came on board in October 2018 clearly show that Ekiti legacies will surely be restored.

Mrs Babafemi said that various measures put in place by Governor Fayemi in the last few months which include plan to renovate the state secretariat, regular payment of salary, release of fund for car and housing loans and the administration’s plan to resuscitate the State Printing Press, among several others are clear indications of the governor’s determination to uplift the civil service.

She commended the Chairman and members of the committee for working assiduously and making the report of their findings ready and submitted within the stipulated time.

The Head of Service expressed her appreciation at the professionalism of the committee members, who she described as a set of civil servants capable of driving organizational goals to logical conclusion.

Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, who is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr James Owolabi expressed his gratitude to the government for the confidence reposed in his committee to serve and urged it to consider the recommendations for implementation.

The Chairman explained some of the steps taken by the committee before arriving at the report submitted to include inspection of facilities and personnel at the Ekiti State Printing Press and going on fact-finding trips to Oyo and Osun States Governments Printing Press to assist the committee come up with the best recommendations.

The Committee has as its terms of reference  to determine the status of the Printing Press in terms of equipment and financial resources, personnel structure, profitability potential and level of government commitment in  making the Printing Press operational and effective.

Messers Babatunde Adesola, Adedayo Ajobiewe,  Sunday Aribatise and Emmanuel Ajayi constitute other members of the Committee.
