The Ekiti State Government has paid the outstanding counterpart fund of N3.3 billion for the year  2016 , 2017 and 2018 UBEC/SUBEB projects which  the immediate past administration in the state neglected throughout its four years in office.

The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. (Mrs.)  Eunice Oladimeji, who made this known in Ado- Ekiti during a Bid opening ceremony of  the 2014/2015  UBEC/ SUBEB Projects urged  the contractors who are successful in the process to work according to specification and contractual agreement as the Board would not hesitate to enforce the rules guiding the procedures for the execution of UBEC/SUBEB Projects.

She added that contractors who fail to work in strict compliance with the agreement reached with the Board will be blacklisted and made to refund the money into the government coffers.

Oladimeji noted that as part of steps at ensuring proper monitoring of the Projects , the Board had procured 17 motorcycles for technical officers that would  monitor the projects located in all the 16 Local Government areas of the State.

The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that all necessary arrangements have been concluded by the Board to pay contractors the outstanding balance owed  them on the 2012 /2013 UBEC /SUBEB Projects.

Also speaking , the Zonal Coordinator of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Ekiti State , Mr Joshua Arema, who commended the Kayode Fayemi-led administration for complying with UBEC policies and programmes assured of the UBEC’s steady and continued collaboration with the Ekiti SUBEB with the aim of improving service delivery and making basic education accessible to children of school age in the state.
