A glorious day, Saturday, January 26, 2019 was and it will remain a day to remember for a long time for the families of Dr Gbade Ojo, the chief of staff to Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Mr Samuel Tifase when their daughter, Temitope Adewunmi and son, Taiwo Oladayo were joined together in holy matrimony at the Sanctuary of Christ Evangelical Church, Ibadan.

The glamorous wedding reception took place at the Theophilus Ogunlesi hall, opposite the University College Hospital’s main entrance, Ibadan where leading figures in academia, politics and industry across Nigeria and abroad converged in a relaxed atmosphere to honour Dr Gbade Ojo, an associate professor of political science and communication at the University of Ilorin who was giving out his daughter’s hand in marriage.

Members of the Oyo State Executive Council at the society wedding were led by the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Alhaji Olalekan Alli.

The proprietor of Ibadan central hospital, Dr Abib Olamitoye, who was chairman on the occasion, urged the new couple to see each other as friends. The bride’s father, Dr Gbade Ojo in his message to the new couple, implored them to be prayerful just as their parents. According to him, prayer and hard work should always be observed by the new couple.

In his sermon, the General Overseer, Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, Prophet Samson Adegboyega said separation in marriage is not an option for believers. The man of God who disclosed that he had been married for 49 years without any outsider coming around to settle quarrels between him and his wife, said marriage was the first assignment by God in the garden of Eden. He, however, noted that any husband beating his wife is beating down his treasure and destiny.

“The institution of marriage is a very highly honoured institution established by God himself”, Prophet Adegboye said.

The new couple, however, met during their mandatory National Youth Service Corps. And they remained friends since then before they were pronounced husband and wife on that great Saturday.

Music was supplied by the popular gospel artist, Dr Olayinka Ayefele MON.
