Principals and teachers of all secondary schools across Ekiti State have been charged to make judicious use of all instructional materials recently procured and delivered to them by the current Kayode Fayemi-led administration in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission (TSC), Dr. (Mrs.) Adebimpe Osundare gave this charge while fielding questions from Journalists at the flag-off of the materials by the State Governor, Dr.Kayode Fayemi, who was represented by his Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi in Ado-Ekiti listed the instructional materials to include 2000 twin Lockers and Chairs, 550 laptops, various textbooks in core subjects and several others which she said would contribute quite largely in repositioning the sector.
Mrs. Osundare, who appreciated the state governor for according priority attention to the sector listed other achievements of the Governor within 100 days in office to include cancellation of payment of both tuition fees and development levy in schools across Ekiti, approval of housing loans to 784 teaching and non teaching staff and car loans approved for 384 staff of the Commission.
Osundare urged the teachers to justify the huge investment of government in the sector by making necessary contributions to the development of the sector.
She called on parents, guardians and relevant stakeholders in the sector to equally make themselves readily available for positive contributions as government alone could not shoulder all responsibilities in the sector.
The Permanent Secretary counseled the students to shun all social vices commonly exhibited by youths and concentrate on their studies, noting that education remained the only antidote to ignorance and poverty.
