Engineer Seyi Makinde, the gubernatorial candidate for the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has stated that the party will do everything within the ambit of the law to reclaim its stolen mandate in Oyo Central Senatorial District, Ibadan North federal constituency, Ibarapa North/Central federal constituency and other areas where electoral malpractices were identified.

Makinde made the disclosure while addressing journalists on Monday at his Omi Tuntun’s office, Iwo Road on the Presidential and National Assembly election.

On behalf of PDP, Makinde expressed that the party will do everything within the ambit of the law to reclaim the mandate given to PDP candidates, which was alleged stolen by the ruling party in Oyo Central, Ibadan North federal constituency and Ibarapa North/Central federal constituency, where elections were declared inconclusive.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we will pursue forcefully within the ambit of the law, our mandate in Oyo Central Senatorial District, ditto for Ibarapa North/Central federal constituency and Ibadan North.

“We are studying other cases of electoral malfeasance and anywhere that we identify one, we will move in, confident that justice will prevail over political arrogance and desperation.”

While expressing gratitude to the people of the state for trooping out in large numbers to exercise their civil responsibility despite challenges, Seyi  Makinde condoled with the families of those lost their lives during the election, particularly Amusat Monsuru who was shot on Saturday during election collation.

Engr. Makinde hailed the people of Oyo South Senatorial District for standing firm to defend the mandate given to PDP’s senatorial candidate, Dr. Kola Balogun at the poll.

“Last Saturday, a land mark historical event occurred in Oyo South Senatorial District. Despite intimidation, naked use of executive power and obscene deployment of billions of government money, our people decided to stay on the path of honour,” he said.
