Dr Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti state has commended Ekiti people for their peaceful conduct during the last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly’s election where President Mohammadu Buhari was re-elected as President.
The governor also expressed his inestimable gratitude to all residents of the state for trooping out in their large number to cast their votes for parties of their choices adding that their steadfastness, courage, loyalty, commitment and fierce determination to defend their sovereign rights deserve applause.
Governor Fayemi, in a Radio and Television broadcast to the people of the state at the wake of the official announcement of President Buhari’s re-election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reiterated the resolve of his administration and party not to disappoint the people of the state.
He said his administration would henceforth be relentless in the task of securing meaningful and sustainable development programmes for the people with the assurance that he will leave no stone unturned in his drive to take the state to its next level of development.
According to the governor, “Ekiti people are peace loving people and it gladdens my heart that not even contest for political power has eroded that cherished disposition. Our conduct before, during and after the election is exemplary and worthy of emulation. “I salute your steadfastness, courage, loyalty, commitment and fierce determination to defend your sovereign rights and the integrity of our nascent democracy. This has earned us prestige in the eyes of the world and ensured that Ekiti-Kete is the winner in the electoral process.”
“I am honoured and elated by your show of love for our President. You have challenged us once again by strengthening your trust in us through your votes. As a government and political party, we owe it to you not to betray the trust you reposed in us through this new mandate. With your unflinching trust and support, the task of securing meaningful and sustainable development for our dear state is made easier.”
