The Coordinating Director for Ado Ekiti Local Government Area, Mr. Sesan Aina has intensified work at the new site of the local government secretariat located about two kilometres away from the current building used as the secretariat Complex for the local government.

Aina, who started out as a Local Government Administrator 20 years ago is working assiduously to redeem the dignity of the local government area.

Aina, who sees his new position as a challenge a call to service, said “immediately we were inaugurated, the Governor gave us a marching order and the mandate that it is no longer business as usual and that we should deliver on his campaign promises to the people. And for the past two months that I have been in the saddle, I have tried as much as possible to make sure that the errors of the past administration are corrected”.

Speaking further, he said “when I came into the local government secretariat, I discovered that the local government environment was very untidy and unkempt. There were no materials for staff to use. Members of staff were not even coming to work. But today, I am happy they have started coming to work. We have effected so many things in the local government secretariat like the painting of the Chairman’s office, renovation of some of the offices, re-painting of the local government secretariat fences and the rebuild of the broken part of the fences to make working in the secretariat more conducive and convenient”.

Mr. Aina, the Coordinating Director revealed that one of the measures put in place to correct decays of the past was the termination of the agreement the previous administration had with a particular consulting firm that was collecting the local government’s internally generated revenues (IGR) and was not remitting them into the local government account. “I have directed the Rates Department in the local government to continue their duties of collecting the Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) for the local government”, the Coordinating Director stated.

“I have also ensured the regular payments of the local government staffs salaries up till date. The site for the new local government secretariat which was abandoned by my predecessor has now been cleared by those employed through a direct labour approach and in few weeks’ time, the secretariat will be commissioned by the Governor and put to use as soon as the Governor gives his approval”.

On Security, he commended Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of the State for his good initiative in setting up a special security committee for the state. On the issue of electricity, he disclosed that “it is the State Government that has power to address it and acquire transformers that will be evenly shared among the various streets, villages and communities within Ado Ekiti local government area”.
