Mrs Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu, the candidate of the National Interest Party, NIP in Oyo State during the last gubernatorial poll has congratulated the Governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

In a letter, a copy of which was obtained by PMParrot, she congratulated the governor-elect on behalf of the NIP.

She said “I pray that by Almighty God’s special grace your tenure will be a successful one. I use this opportunity to urge you to keep your campaign promises made to the people of Oyo State.  Our people deserve good governance and I believe with God’s help you can deliver this. We offer our hands in service to make Oyo better,” she wrote.

Sarumi-Aliyu appreciated the people of Oyo State for coming out en-masse to exercise their franchise as she frowned at the violence that rocked the polls in some places.

“While we mourn the death of persons during the just concluded elections, I strongly condemn the pockets of violence that occurred in some parts of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole leading to deaths. I reiterate that no one’s political ambition is worth any person’s blood. Politics should not be a ‘Do or Die’ game. We must bring an end to Money Politics if we must move forward as a people and as a Nation. By God’s grace we will get there someday”.

She also took time to address youths; she said “to my dear youths, you underestimate the kind of positive change we can trigger when united. We must stop cynicism and key wholeheartedly into our country’s electoral processes. The ‘Future is Yours’ is not just a phrase, we must act it and work towards taking our future into our hands.

Sarumi-Aliyu who said she remains resolute in the struggle for a better Oyo State and Nigeria where everyone can live fulfilled lives irrespective of gender, ethnicity and religion, believes that she has given more women the courage to step out and vie for elective positions.
