Emerging Young Business Entrepreneurs Shine In Ekiti

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi has officially inaugurated the first set of Executives of the youth arm of the Ekiti Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (EKICCIMA).

Inaugurating the new Executives on behalf of the Governor; Mr. Seyi Oska Ayeleso, the General Secretary of the e-Eleven in the State scolded the youths and advised them to put an end to being political scavengers in the midst of politicians. “The inauguration of the Ekiti State Executives of the youth arm of the EKICCIMA is a new event in the State. It’s a new invention and a new concept”.

While speaking with PMParrot in Ado Ekiti during the week, he assured the young business entrepreneurs in the EKICCIMA of the readiness of the Governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi to continue to support the activities and programmes of youths with creative business ideas.

In his word, Mr. Oska Seyi Ayeleso said: “Mr. Governor has been supporting Ekiti Chambers of Commerce and he will continue to support them. Mr. Governor has sincere interest in supporting whatever involves the youths of the State”.

Earlier during the programme, opportunities were given to seven (7) different young business entrepreneurs to make a presentation of their business ideas, and at the end, three out of them were eventually picked and these three (3) included: Princess Miss Ademefu Adetutu coming distant third; Mr. Musa Habib coming second while Mr. Juwon Omotoba came first.

Speaking at the same event, the State President of Ekiti Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (EKICCIMA) / ODU’ACCIMA, Chief Kola Akosile said “the goal of the EKICCIMA inaugurating the Ekiti Youth Entrepreneurs Chapter was to enable the EKICCIMA create opportunities for the youths in the state to develop and build their business capacity.

“The Youth Chambers of Commerce is already existing in 21 States in the Country. Ekiti State is just joining them. It is to also enable the youths to create access to the various funds available world-wide and to raise consciousness among the Ekiti Youths. The Federal Government is very desirous of creating enabling environment for us as private sectors to strive. The inauguration of the Ekiti Youth Entrepreneur is to key into the yearnings of the Chamber movement to be youth inclusive comprising of all professions and trade between the ages of 18 and 45 years and account for about their participation in bridging the gap in Commerce among the various trade groups in the world, Nigeria inclusive”.

The Ekiti EKICCIMA boss, Chief Kola Akosile itemized the areas of trades embedded in the EKICCIMA to include Mining, Agriculture, Knowledge, ICT, Women, Solid Minerals, Social Media, Hotels Tourism and Entertainment, Research and Development and Industries and Manufacturing.

The new Executives inaugurated are as follows: President : Sanya Olufemi Fabiyi; 1st Deputy President: Yemi Olubusoye; 2nd Deputy President: Eyitayo Fabunmi; Secretary: Gbenga Daramola; P.R.O: Tosin Adaraniwon; Treasurer: Odunayo Akomolafe; Financial Secretary: Ademefun Adetutu; Vice President Agriculture: Temitope Adewole; Vice President ICT: Peculiar Michael; Vice President Mines: Benard Njoku; Vice President Tourism: Kola Raji; Vice President Knowledge: Olanipekun Adewale; Vice President Commerce: Babatunde D Aina; Vice President Industry: Iyabo Olowa; Vice President for Women in Business: Wemimo Ariyo and Vice President Trade Promotion: Abayomi Adetunji.

Giving his remarks, the first State President for the Ekiti Youth Entrepreneurs Chapter, Mr. Sanya Olufemi Fabiyi said: “my inauguration as the first State President for the Youths Arm of the Ekiti EKICCIMA is a call to develop young people in Ekiti State. It’s a call for new innovations. It’s a call to get young people to conceive and develop their business ideas. It’s a call for service and sacrifices. It’s also a pathway for young people to emerge in the business world. A call to create young people to emerge in this business world. The Chamber of Commerce is a place for strictly business people. It’s a place for entrepreneurs and the Youths Chambers is an avenue to spin out and discover young people with creative business ideas in the State.

“The idea of the Ekiti Youth Chambers is to bring everybody together to look at the ideas, resources that are available and also help young people with creative business ideas to fine tune it. We will develop a model to nurture young people in the State”. With the inauguration of Ekiti Youth Chambers of Commerce, he maintained that “Ekiti must become a commercially viable State. Ekiti must stop to continue to be a Civil Service State. We must develop it and pattern Ekiti like Lagos State. Ekiti State must not also continue to depend on Federal Allocations from Abuja. We must begin to look at the potentials in Ekiti State and also look for ways to harness them for them to grow. There are funds waiting to be accessed by young people. What the Ekiti Youths Chambers of Commerce intend to do is to open the eye of our young people to them”, Mr. Sanya Fabiyi submitted.
