The governor-elect of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, Thursday, succeeded in getting an Oyo State High Court to throw out the case instituted against his candidacy on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party by Sen. Ayoade Adeseun, one of his fellow contestants during the party’s primaries.
The former senator had approached the High Court to challenge the validity of the primary election that produced Engr Seyi Makinde as the gubernatorial candidate of Oyo PDP.
The case was struck out on Tuesday for ‘lacking in merit and thereby declared null and void’ by Court 11.
Makinde, had dispatched his team of lawyers and loyalists to the premises of the Oyo State High Court as early as 8 am. Presence of heavily armed policemen was also noticed.
While waiting for the judgement to be read, PMParrot spoke with Alhaji Akeem Azeez, one of Makinde’s closest aides who expressed optimism that the case would be thrown out.
His words “Seyi Makinde is God’s choice, he is also the choice of the people of Oyo State. And I am sure that God has just started His work on Seyi Makinde. All our people need to do is to continue to pray for him”
PMParrot also confirmed that after the case was struck out and he was informed of the development, the Governor-Elect joined others in his Ikolaba, Bodija home to celebrate the landmark feat.
