‘Elections No Longer Do-Or-Die Affairs In Ekiti’

The people of Ekiti State have been praised for trooping out en masse to support and vote for all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the last general elections in the State.

The Chief of Staff (COS) to the State Governor, Hon. Abiodun Omoleye, who gave this credit during a chat with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital said Ekiti people, by their pattern of voting and the outcome of the election, have demonstrated their acceptance and love for Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is deeply and genuinely committed to their well-being.

For allowing peace to reign during the election, Omoleye believed that the people have shown that election issue would no more be a do-or-die affair in the State as nobody would be able to subvert the collective will of the people any longer.

According to Omoleye, “There are grounds for comparison. We had elections in 2015 conducted in the state and the way the opposition used the Federal might then was shameful. The last election that we had under Governor Fayemi was peaceful. There was no case of arrest or intimidation. The entire state was calm as people fully expressed their minds through the ballot, and overwhelmingly gave the APC their support. We don’t have to win through any crooked means; we are not a product of such brigandage”, he said.

The Chief of Staff, who also thanked the entire workforce in the State for standing by the Governor, who has prioritized their welfare with prompt payment of salaries and provision of other welfare packages for them promised to ensure that every sector of the state enjoy the dividends of democracy.

While appreciating the contributions and support of all Ekiti traders, artisans, transport unions, market women and non-indigenous ethnic groups in the State for rallying support for the APC, Hon. Omoleye solicited their continued cooperation with the assurance that their welfare will always be prioritized.

“This is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. The governor is a true activist and democrat. He and all those working with him understand and appreciate the concept of civil relations. The benefits of having a government in both State and at the national levels are enormous and you cannot quantify it. I want to assure everyone that within the next couple of years, Ekiti will be a sight to behold unlike what happened in the past. All moribund projects are now being reconsidered. I’m confident that the synergy between the Governor and the President will bring a lot of goodies to Ekiti State”, Omoleye said further.

For maintaining peace and orderliness in their individual domains which contributed, in no small measure to peaceful conduct of the poll in the state, the Chief of Staff thanked traditional rulers across the state assuring them of government support all the time.

Omoleye, who also used the opportunity to appreciate all religious leaders in the State for preaching peace before, during and after the election gave kudos to the youths for not allowing themselves to be used as political thugs to disrupt the smooth conduct of the elections.
