The Oyo State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has made a case for the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was accused of purchasing 33 excavators for local councils in the state at the wrong time for the wrong reasons.

ALGON, while defending the governor said the heavy machines were purchased by Ajimobi some five months ago adding that the governor only had the time to personally commission them for use after the conclusion of the general elections.

In a statement exclusively made available to PMParrot by Basorun Adekunle Oladeji, the Chairman of Aare Latoosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA) also advised the opposition, expecially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Governor-Elect, Engr Seyi Makinde to eschew politics of bitterness.

Oladeji submitted further “Some persons are going too far in their bid to destroy the personality of a man who has in no small measure been helpful to them and has contributed immensely to the growth and development of his dear Oyo state.

“Why would his Excellency, Governor  Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi want to be engaged is some of those stuffs he is being accused of doing? Of what benefit? He has enjoyed the grace of God in so many ways and despite the fact that he lost his election, he remains committed to the development of Oyo state. He consistently made known his interest for the development of his state even at the national level.

He then went further to explain more about the controversial excavators. According to the LG Boss also known as Omo BAO, “the excavators were purchased about five months ago, with the knowledge of ALGON as a body.

“The excavators are to be used to dredge streams and rivers, reduce flood and opening of waterways which will in turn reduce cases of malaria and other health related matters. This was from a heart that believes in the wellness of his people. I wonder why it is being raised now.

“Let all those raising false alarm remember that it is just a matter of time as they would occupy leadership positions and will understand what it entails.

Ajimobi’s legacy will forever be remembered in Oyo state in infrastructure, health, education, security, waste management and others. Oyo state has been Restored, Transformed and Repositioned”.
