The School Feeding programme of the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led government in Ekiti state will commence in due course in schools across the State.

The Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Home Grown School Feeding programme, Mr. Ademola Obanise gave this indication in Ado-Ekiti while inspecting cooking materials to be distributed to selected vendors that would be engaged to do the cooking for the programme.

The SSA, who said pupils in Primaries one to three would be fed, added that Ekiti State government keyed into the Federal Government initiated programme more so that the pupils and their parents would benefit immensely from the  programme.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. James Owolabi, who said government prioritized the Feeding programme for the pupils to start benefitting from the programme immediately added that the feeding will be carried out once in a day.

Mr. Owolabi emphasized the need for a balanced diet for the pupils which he said would help in no small measure to refresh their memories for quick assimilation.

The Home Grown School Feeding Programme is part of a 500 billion Naira funded Social Investment Programme announced by the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to tackle poverty and improve the health and education of children and other vulnerable groups.
