Fayemi Raises Hope In Ekiti Over Water Supply

Hopes of the people of Ekiti State to enjoy adequate supply of potable water has received a boost from the state’s Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The General Manager of the Ekiti Water Corporation, Engineer O.A. Agbeyo, who spoke during the World Water Day for 2019, informed the people about the readiness of the Governor to reactivate the Ero Water Supply Scheme; replace the transmission mains pipeline from Ado to Ifaki Ekiti; as well as pipeline extension of over 250 kilometres in Ado Ekiti and the rehabilitation of Little Osse (Egbe Dam) Water Scheme.

She also disclosed that plans are on for the rehabilitation and repair of water facilities in Ekiti West Local Government Area in areas such as Erijiyan, Ikogosi, Ipole – Iloro, Ido – Ile, Okemesi, Erijiyan and Aramoko and the reinstatement of autonomy to the Ekiti State Water Corporation.

The representatives of the European Union (EU) and that of the National Authorizing Office (NAO) equally graced the 2019 celebration in Ekiti State. Before the 2019 Water Day celebration, a UNICEF project under the third phase of the Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme (WSSSRP – III) was commissioned.

Engineer Osalade Ayodele pointed out that the project which included a public toilet and other components as well as the other projects will have direct impact on the lives of the masses in the Ekiti communities, especially vulnerable groups like women, children, the aged and the physically challenged.
