American fighter, Deontay Wilder rejected a world title fight with Boxing’s unified world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua after discovering the Brit was set to earn DOUBLE from the bout, according to promoter Shelly Finkel.

The WBC heavyweight king claims he agreed to fight Joshua last year, only to be told the 29-year-old would face WBA mandatory Alexander Povetkin instead.

The Joshua camp are said to have since offered terms in his favour due to the four-belt champion’s bigger appeal but the Bronze Bomber is demanding a 50-50 split of the purse.

Wilder insists he is the biggest draw in boxing and his manager Finkel confirmed the much-hyped meeting will not happen until the contracts treat them equally.

He told Sirius XM At The Fights: “The amount of money that was offered by DAZN was a lot of money.

“But it’s not a lot if you find out later that Joshua got double that.

“In any case, the first fight was going to be [Dominic] Breazeale. On May 18, the fighter we were always going to fight once we lost [Tyson] Fury.

“And instead of it being on DAZN it’s on Showtime. We believe this is a lot better for the fans.

“Because you’re going to be seen by millions instead of tens or hundreds of thousands of people.”

Wilder, 33, is currently in camp preparing to face his WBC mandatory Dominic Breazeale on May 18, after snubbing a huge three-fight deal with streaming service DAZN.
