Ondo’s Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Tuesday, sent a delegation to visit the ancient town of Idoani to commiserate with the families of the victims who were killed during an armed robbery incident.

Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu told the Alani of Idoani, Oba Olufemi Olutoye, that the incident was a very sad one and promised to tackle the problem of insecurity in the state.

It was reported that armed robbers had on Monday robbed a bank in the community, killing seven persons and injuring many others.

Men of the Nigerian Army, who repelled the attack, however, apprehended a man said to be one of the suspects.

Akeredolu, represented by the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, said the government would do everything to protect its citizens and prayed that such incidents never happened again.

The governor also assured the community that the perpetrators would be arrested and brought to book.

Akeredolu, while also commiserating with the families of the deceased and the first generation bank, appealed to the financial institution not to relocate because of the ugly incident.

“We are glad that a suspect has been nabbed and I am very sure he will create a channel that will lead to the arrest of others,” he said.

Earlier, Olutoye had urged the governor to beef up security around the state’s boundary communities.

The monarch commended the prompt response of security agencies to the robbery attack.

He noted that the bank was the only one serving the community, adding that the nearest one was in Owo several kilometers away.
