Auditor General Nominee For LGs To Be Screened By Ogun House

The Ogun State House of Assembly has directed the nominee for the post of Auditor General for Local Government, Mr Lamidi Mulero to appear before it for screening and ratification of his appointment tomorrow at room 215 of the Assembly Complex,Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta at 10:00am prompt.

The Assembly made the request following the acknowledgement of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s letter dated 24th April, 2019, which was read by Speaker Suraju Ishola Adekunbi at today’s plenary.

The Speaker urged the nominee to appear before the Assembly with thirty copies each of his curriculum vitae and relevant credentials for the screening.

Meanwhile, the Assembly also passed the Local Government  (Amendment) Law, 2018 to further strengthen the third tier of government in the State for efficiency and effectiveness.

The passage of the bill titled: “H.B No. 028/OG/2018-  A Bill for a Law to Amend the Local Government Law, 2000”, sponsored by Hon Ganiyu Oyedeji and co-sponsored by six other members was passed during a plenary presided over by Speaker Adekunbi, following the presentation of  the report of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs by its  Chairman, Tunde Sanusi.

Sanusi, thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of the report which was seconded by Hon. Ganiyu Oyedeji and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote, after which the amended part of the bill was later read and adopted Clause- by –Clause by the Committee of the Whole House.

The motion for the third reading of the bill was later moved by a member representing Ijebu Ode State Constituency, Olawale Alausa , seconded by Hon. Victor Fasanya, while the Acting Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo, did the third reading of the bill.

Responding, the Speaker thereafter directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for his assent.
