Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Morocco international defender, Romain Saiss says it would be a good thing for the Atlas Lions to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Although the Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed friendlies with Zimbabwe and Senegal, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr recently stated that there was an opportunity to organize a friendly match between Morocco and Nigeria.

Saiss has labelled the Super Eagles a top African side and they prove it often in international competitions.

Asked if it would be a good thing to face Nigeria, Saiss told medias24.com: ”Yes of course. Given that now the groups are known, each coach will be able to concoct an adequate preparation program for his team, because in advance, we cannot know who we are going to play and who we can met in the round of 16.

”Of course it would be good to face good teams like Nigeria, which is strong in Africa and proves it often.

”The fact also to play in June allows the teams to find good sparring-partners, whereas this is not the case in January, because only the teams are concerned by the AFCON are available.

”After that, it does not matter who we face in a friendly, because the most important thing is to be ready on the day.”

The Super Eagles will hold a training camp in Asaba, starting from June 2, before heading to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.
