Ekiti LG Staff Charged On Resourcefulness And Grassroots Development

Workers in all the 16 Local Government Councils of Ekiti State have been charged to be more innovative to harness the abundant human and material resources at the grassroots for the overall development of the state.

The chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide gave the charge at a meeting with top government functionaries of the Council areas held at the NULGE Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.

While reiterating the decision of the Commission to reposition Local Government service in the State for effective and efficient service delivery at the grassroots, Mr. Abejide, who called on all hands to be on deck in the onerous task to reclaim Ekiti land and restore its denigrated values adding that the administration under Governor Kayode Fayemi was poised to restore the lost glory at third tier of government in the state.

The chairman, who thanked the Governor for appointing him and other commissioners to serve in the Board of the Local Government Service Commission, promised that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure full implementation of programmes and policies that will enhance career progression of the staff.

He advised the staff to shun partisan politics as government would not tolerate any act of indiscipline, absenteeism or negligence of duty in whatever form.

Mr. Abejide revealed that efforts were in top gear to provide a favourable working environment for the workers to enhance their productivity and that all issues bordering promotion and other personnel issues would be attended to as swiftly as possible.

Responding on behalf of the Coordinating Directors, the Coordinating Director for Ekiti West Local Government, Mr. Tunde Arowolaju pledged the unalloyed support and cooperation of the entire staff, adding that all efforts would be made to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Local government areas.

The meeting was attended by other Commissioners in the Board namely Mrs. Abiola Adeosun, Barrister Dele Oloje, Comrade Bisi Dada, Mr. Wole Olujobi, Alhaja Mariam Bimbola Ogunlade and other top government functionaries from the 16 Local government areas of the state.
