Local government workers in Ekiti State have been warned to desist from the habit of coming late or outright absence from work without any official permission.

The chairman, Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide gave the warning in his office in Ado-Ekiti while being briefed by Directors at the Local Government Service Commission, Local Government Staff Loans Board, Pension Transitional Arrangement Department and the Local Government Staff Training School.

Mr. Abejide, who stated that plans are underway to fish out ghost workers at both the Commission and the 16 Local Councils, expressed dismay at the information flying around that some alien names found their way into Local Councils’ payroll.

The chairman said  the Commission would develop a system that would detect ghost workers on the payroll adding that anyone caught receiving double salary would be sanctioned.

While requesting for initiative that would help to boost the Internally Generated Revenue in the Commission as well as in the 16 Council areas, Abejide assured that government on its part, would adequately reward hard work.

While assuring the workers of a better working environment that would enhance  productivity, the chairman urged them to work assiduously to ensure that the five-point  agenda of the present administration was made realizable.

He appealed to the staff to embrace quality management in the discharge of their duties stressing the roles that Local government system are expected to play in the development of the grassroots.

Responding on behalf of the staff, the Director in charge of the General Administration Department, Mr. Tunde Alagbo pledged the cooperation of the staff in the attainment of the objectives of the Kayode Fayemi-led administration.
