Speaker Of Ogun House Lauds Colleagues, Staffers On 8-Years’ Success

As the eighth legislative session of the Ogun State House of Assembly winds down, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi has ascribed the successes recorded by the Assembly to the unrelenting commitment and dedication to service by his colleague-lawmakers as well as the Management and entire workers of the Assembly.

 Adekunbi made the remarks during a valedictory meeting with management staff of the Assembly led by the Clerk, Engr Jonathan Onajobi at the Conference room of the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He stated that the massive support, understanding and corporation of members of staff contributed immensely to the overall success of the law making business, which was achieved through a hitch free operations of the 7th and 8th legislative sessions resulting in socio-economic economic transformation of the State.

According to him, the Assembly passed a lot of people oriented legislations, which had resulted in the socio-economic development and investment opportunities being witnessed in the State, the Speaker admonished the workers to extend the support to the incoming leadership of the 9th legislature with a view to ensuring a more virile and stronger democratic practices and engendered more developments in the State.

Responding, the Clerk applauded the Speaker’s sense of openness, transparency, motivation, commitment and team spirit in the administration of human and material resources of the State House of Assembly, which were largely responsible for the achievements recorded in the last eight years.

He assured that the management and the entire workers would sustain the existing seamless and symbiotic relationship towards achieving higher productivity and efficient service delivery.

Meanwhile, the  Speaker had earlier met with some councilors from some Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas in the State, who came to the Assembly to appeal for the review of the Assembly’s resolution on suspension of Chairmen and councilors of local government councils and LCDAs in the State.

He assured that the State Assembly under his leadership “remains an institution that respects the plight and yearnings of the people in the runnings of affairs of the third tier of government”; explaining that the resolution was not meant to witch-hunt any elected local government official but rather to clarify allegations leveled against some of them including abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

Earlier in their presentations, Oyedele Azeez and Saheed Sanusi of Abeokuta South East LCDA and Abeokuta South Local Government Areas, appealed to the Assembly to intervene and review the resolution suspending the council political functionaries.
