Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has refused to rule out an exit from Premier League side, Brighton & Hove in the summer transfer window due to a lack of first team football last term.

Balogun made only seven starts for the Seagulls from a possible 45 in all competitions as ex-manager Chris Hughton preferred the duo of Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk as his two central defenders.

Now there is a new coach at the American Express Community Stadium, Graham Potter, something Balogun must consider before making a decision on his future.

”First of all, we have a new coach, that always open new doors, so to be honest right now my focus is on the Africa Cup of Nations, I will definitely think about the future because I was not satisfied with last season,” Balogun said at Thursday’s press conference in Asaba attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.

”So it’s always something you think, you want to play as a player, you don’t want to sit on the bench.

”I definitely have to think what is best for me in the future but the main thing I think about right now is the important tournament we have to play.”

The 30-year-old Balogun has one more year left on his contract with Brighton & Hove, whom he joined from Bundesliga outfit Mainz in July 2018.
