All things being equal, the Oyo State Government led by Engr Seyi Makinde may, next week, unban the state’s chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers after a 14 days absence from the streets.

This was disclosed after a closed door meeting which started around 2:00pm, and lasted for two hours between the state government, security operatives, president, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Najeem Usman Yaasin and leaders of the union’s factions in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, alias Auxilliary and Alhaji Abideen Olajide, popularly known as Ejiogbe.

While addressing newsmen, the president, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Najeem Usman Yaasin, stated that he met with Governor Seyi Makinde over the proscription of the Union’s activities in the state and the governor has agreed if he, Yasin, could guarantee him peace amongst the union members in the state.

Yasin, however, maintained that immediately the union has its National delegates’ conference in August, all State unions stand dissolved and from August to October, the whole NURTW in the 36 states of the federation would be reconstituted

It would be recalled that the Oyo state government had on the 31st of May, 2019 proscribed all the activities of the National Road Transport workers (NURTW) in the state and asked combined security task force in every community of the state to take control and maintain peace and order in every bus terminus until further notice.
