Oyo Lawmaker Calls For Establishment Of Police Station In His Constituency

In line with his electioneering campaign promise to champion a cause that will reduce violence rate if not total eradication in his constituency, the lawmaker representing Ibadan South West state constituency 1, Hon. Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi has called on the appropriate authorities to establish a police station in his constituency.

He revealed that the police station will cover areas such as Foko, Born Photo, Isale Osi, Popo Yemoja, Isale Asaka, Idi-Arere and some other areas within his constituency.

Hon. Adebisi made the call while addressing journalists shortly after the Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 House of Assembly plenary.

He noted that what promoted the matter he presented at the floor of the House was his desire to put a lasting solution to the perennial problem of gang violence in some neighborhood within his constituency, Ibadan South West 1.

Hon. Adebisi condemned Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 incident that occurred at Idi- Arere and other adjoining neighborhood within the constituency, where a life was reportedly loss and about nine shops were looted by hoodlums.

He revealed that the constituency comprises of ancient and indigenous areas including Popo Yemoja, where the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji is situated.

Hon. Yusuf Adebisi added that it is not befitting to hear that such a community that has produced prominent personalities like the Olubadan and others in the society is a den of hoodlums.

While commending the effort of the Nigeria Police Force for the laudable role they played towards restoring normalcy to the area, he urged them to engage in serious and comprehensive investigation to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the Idi-Arere incident.
