The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has promised to patronize local contractors and engineers to boost the socio-economy landscape of the state.
The governor made the revelation at the Business Luncheon Induction and award night of The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch; held at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde noted that for the state government to get rid of inflated contracts, it is inevitable to patronize the indigenous captains.
He also assured the body of Oyo State Government’s readiness to collaborate with NSE in bringing down the cost of infrastructural projects in the State.
The Governor appreciated the society for the honour, pointing out the importance of the Award because Engineering is his first love.
Makinde who rebuked the status of god-fatherism, maintained that, he will not be subjected to anybody’s control at awarding contracts as politics is only a means of giving back to the society.
In his remark, President, Nigeria Society of Engineers and chairman of the occasion, Engr. Mokuolu Adekunle, stated that, Governor Makinde has contributed immensely to the development of humanity and Nigeria at large and that is the major reason they have conferred on him The Distinguished fellowship of the Nigeria Society of Engineers.
