The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, Thursday, clocked 63 and was celebrated by his family, friends, associates and admirers.
In a special release on Thursday, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, the Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker felicitated and congratulated the politician of note.
Akogun Tai Oguntayo who described the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Ekiti State 6th House of Assembly as a quintessential leader said “some are born leaders while leadership is divinely approved for some people”.
Akogun went on to state that “in the case of the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, both are his lot; he’s a born leader and the leadership was divinely approved for him”.
Akogun attributed the Speaker’s personality to the biblical passage which states thus: “show me a man who is diligent in his work, he will stand before kings and not mean men”.
He noted that the Rt. Hon. Speaker has been rising steadily since his entry into partisan politics thereby breaking records and showing light to the world”.
The SA Media to the Rt. Honourable Speaker in the statement also quoted that the Speaker is: “older in age, younger at heart and youthful in appearance. At 63, Rt. Hon . Funminiyi Afuye is giving quality leadership to the 6th Assembly through his open door policy, robust deliberation, administrative acumen and honesty of purpose”.
Meanwhile, his friends spent the whole day celebrating him online. Many also thronged his office at Ado Ekiti to congratulate him.
Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye had, at different times in his life been a Bank Manager, a lawyer, a humanist, a teacher and he is still a philanthropist.
