Public Servants in Ekiti State have been charged not to shy away from declaring their assets as and when due with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

While receiving the State Director of CCB, Ekiti State, in his office, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi emphasized the importance of assets declaration, particularly as it relates to public servants.

He bemoaned a situation where public servants refuse to do the needful as regards assets declaration, noting that such actions may have dire consequences.

The Head of Service, who noted that the CCB is meant to conduct a regular check and not vindictive in nature revealed that he as a leader has always been doing the needful to serve as a good example.

He said the State government has put in place, measures to ensure transparency and integrity in governance, including the establishment of Bureau of Public Procurement and domestication of the Freedom of Information law in the state.

He promised the support of the Civil Service to the CCB as well as adequate sensitization among the public servants, including regular meetings of the Bureau with the Directorate of the Civil Service.

Earlier, Ekiti State Director of CCB, Mr. Akinfolarin Feyisola solicited the support of the state government towards curbing corruption in line with President Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade.

He said the Bureau’s interest was not in dragging people before the Code of Conduct Tribunal but to embark on sensitization on the need for people to declare their assets.
