Day Fayemi Made Ekiti Local Government Retirees To Smile Home

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State has distributed cheques of N100 million to 61 of the local government and primary school pensioners in the state.

While presenting cheques to the beneficiaries at the occasion during the week, the Governor explained that payment of gratuity to the retirees was in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign to put smile on the faces of the pensioners.

The Governor stressed that payment of gratuity to the pensioners would be done quarterly to offset outstanding gratuity owed them by the immediate past administration.

He commended the Local Government Pension Traditional Arrangement Department (PTAD) for making the payment arrangement on the basis of first come first served.

The Governor who implored Local government PTAD to sustain the arrangement advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Professor Adio Folayan expressed the appreciation of the Local government PTAD staff and pensioners to Governor Kayode Fayemi for kick-starting the payment of the backlog of arrears of gratuity owed

Local government and primary school staff pensioners by the immediate past administration.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide described the official presentation of gratuity cheques to the beneficiaries as a demonstration of the commitment of Governor Fayemi – led administration to the welfare of the state retired senior citizens.

The Ekiti State Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi in his remark reaffirmed Governor Fayemi’s disposition to workers welfare as friendly and genuine, stressing that Governor has promised that recruitment into the public service would be done at the appropriate time.

He urged the pensioners to take good care of themselves while praying that God would grant them long life to enjoy the money in peace of mind.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Felicia Ojaomo thanked the Governor for his love and commitment to ensuring the well-being of pensioners and prayed for a successful and peaceful tenure for the Governor and his cabinet members.
