The qualifying series will then take a break for eight months before resumption in August 2020.

The Super Eagles will host Sierra Leone on August 31 2020 in a matchday-three encounter before traveling to Freetown for the reverse fixture eight days later.

The Super Eagles will then face hosts Benin on October 5, 2020, before they round off the AFCON 2021 qualifying series on November 9, 2020 with a home game against Lesotho.

The top two teams from each of the 12 groups will qualify for AFCON 2021 to be hosted by Cameroon. The host nation, Cameroon will participate in the qualifiers but have a guaranteed spot in the final tournament regardless of the position they finish in Group F.
