All Set For Over 17,000 To Graduate From FedPoly Ado Ekiti

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti is set for the Convocation of about 17,000 graduates with the Award of Ordinary National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates.

Addressing the pre-convocation press conference at the Council chamber of the institution on Friday, the Rector of the institution,  Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye said that the program will hold on Saturday, August 10 to cover the backlog of  2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 graduating students.

Dr Oladebeye also disclosed that four eminent Nigerians will be honoured with the Award of Honorary Fellowship on the convocation day.

He named the awardees to include His Excellency, Governor R. A. U. Ganduje (OFR, FFPA) who doubles as the former Chairman of the Polytechnic Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic in Ado Ekiti and the current Governor of Kano State; His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Sam O. Egwu (CON, FFPA), a former Governor of Ebonyi State and the Current Senator representing the Ebonyi North Senatorial District; Chief (Dr.) Sir Bestman P. O. Anekwe, KSM, FFPA, the Chairman and CEO of NIPCO PLC and Otunba Femi Ogunleye, FFPA (a 1995 Alumnus of the Polytechnic and Chairman and CEO of Hydrodam Nigeria Limited.

Highlighting the other activities for the 17th Combined Convocation of the Polytechnic, Oladebeye said there will be facility tour and commissioning of projects on Thursday, August 8 by 9 am; opening of special Convocation exhibition by 11am at the Sports Complex and the Convocation lecture by 1pm at the conference hall on the same day.

The Alumni Variety Day and Lecture holds on Friday August 9 by 12:00noon at the Alumni Centre, while the 17th Combined Convocation ceremony for the award of Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and the presentation of prizes to the graduating sets holds on Saturday August 10 , 2019 at Sports Complex by 9am.

He commended the Accreditation Team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which is already on ground to verify the readiness of the institution to run courses for the award of OND/HND in Office Technology and Management, Civil Engineering and Agricultural Technology in the Institution.

Dr. Oladebeye also listed courses still undergoing resource inspection to include ND in Horticultural Technology, Chemical Engineering, Arts and Design, Hospitality Management, Taxation, Mass Communication and HND’s courses in Crop Production Technology, Ceramics Technology and Purchasing and Supply.

He solicited for the support of the government and established private individuals to improve on the outdated physical infrastructure on the campus, make donations and provide capital to offset the arrears of staffs cooperative check off dues and embark on specific projects needed.

He decried the poor state of the students’ hostels on the campus, as well as the poor condition of transportation system within the Polytechnic, inadequate books and other learning materials in the Polytechnic library, poor facilities at the sports complex, inadequate computers and its accessories, lack of ICT building, inadequate laboratory and workshops for students’ practicals, dilapidated staff quarters and lack of adequate projectors, public address systems for large lecture halls and lack of modern interactive boards.
