...Senator Abiola Ajimobi...ex-governor of Oyo State...

Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past governor of Oyo State has said that he will take the same decisions he took as governor if he has the opportunity to govern the state again.

He also  revealed that he has nothing to regret during his tenure as the governor of the state, except that he tried to be perfect in an imperfect way.

He made the revelation in his Sallah message to the people while speaking with newsmen in his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

“Whatever we have done in the past, we put God first, it is normal to offend human beings, but we must avoid offending God, so we should always sacrifice for the betterment of the people, though everybody can not like all the decision someone takes.”

“We were there yesterday, and there is always a yesterday for everybody. We are all human beings. Tomorrow, they will talk about our past, so, no position, either as human being or a living soul is permanent, that is why we need to do our best when we are there.”

Reacting to the alleged car theft leveled against him by the current administration in Oyo State led by Engr Seyi Makinde, Ajimobi noted that the government policy then was that any government officer using vehicles should take it, stressing that this has also been practised in other states of the federation which Oyo State is not exceptional.

“When you are in government, there are polices to be taken. The decision we made then was that government officers using vehicles should take it, and all these vehicles are old vehicles. Former governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala also took vehicles when he was going, I didn’t meet any furniture when I came into the government house in 2011, I left there now without taking even ordinary spoon.”

Ajimobi pointed out that 14 vehicles was given to the Oyo APC gubernatoral candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu when he was about to leave the Central Bank of Nigeria, adding that 8 vehicles was also given to him (Ajimobi) while leaving his former working place.

“There are also civil servants, whereby the moment politicians leave office, they will steal everything, so civil servants should also be checked.”

He reiterated further that Governor Makinde is lucky because he met a good security architecture on ground, saying that Makinde should leverage on it.

“There are many good things we have done, so he should leverage on them, and which ever he feels is not good, he can make amendment because no body is perfect. Makinde’s success is our progress in this state. We will support him if the need arises, what are we going to benefit from his downfall?”

Ajimobi, however, appealed to all the aggrieved APC members in the state to come for reconciliation, adding that most of the aggrieved party members don’t have genuine reason to be angry except they were not giving positions in his government.

“I have reached out to some of them which I believe have genuine reason to be angry, everybody should come back for reconciliation to forge ahead for 2023 election,” he maintained.
