Nigeria’s winger Samuel Chukwueze was on target for Villarreal in their thrilling 4-4 draw against Granada at the Estadio de la Caramica on Saturday, in their opening match of the 2019/20 La Liga season.

The 20-year-old, who was on for the entire duration of the game, thought he had sealed the win for the Yellow Submarines when he scored their fourth goal in the 73rd minute off a pass from Santi Carzola, but was shocked by the visitors, who scored two late goals to level the game.

Chukwueze’s compatriot, Ramon Azeez, was a 70th minute substitute for Granada, replacing Yan Eteki.

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, was an unused substitute in Everton’s 1-0 win over Watford in the English Premier League on Saturday at the Goodison Park.

The Nigeria international was included in the 18-man list for the game but head coach, Marco Silva, made use of three substitutes Theo Walcott, Moise Kean and Mason Holgate, leaving out the Nigerian.

The former Arsenal man will be hoping to make his debut in their next EPL fixture against newly promoted Aston Villa.

Iwobi’s compatriot Isaac Success and Tom Dele-Bashiru were not listed for Watford.

Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, was not listed in Brighton’s 1-1 home draw against West Ham on Saturday in the EPL.

The former Mainz defender has only been capped eight times by the Seagulls, scoring once.

In the English Championship, Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, was an 87th minute substitute for Sam Clucas, as struggling Stoke City played out a 2-2 draw at home against Derby County.

Stoke is yet to win a game this season, losing two and earning a draw. They currently sit on the 23rd position on the log.

However, Nigeria defender, Semi Ajayi, played all 90 minutes as West Brom came from behind to beat Luton Town 2-1 in a Championship fixture on Saturday.

West Brom have had a bright start to life in the Championship, winning two out of three games with one draw.

In Germany, Eagles defender Jamilu Collins played all 90 minutes as SC Paderborn lost their first Bundesliga game 3-2 away to Bayer Leverkusen.

Nigeria U-23 star, Taiwo Awoniyi, made a cameo appearance for new club Mainz, as they fell 3-0 to Freiburg in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Awoniyi, replaced, Edimilson Fernandes, in the 86th minute of the game.

In France, Victor Osimhen failed to increase his goal tally as Lille lost 1-0 away against Amiens on Saturday. Osimhen played all 90 minutes Lille lost to a 70th minute goal by SehrouGuirassy.

Onyekuru’s Monaco lost 3-0 away to Metz in a French Ligue 1 match. The Nigeria international, who started the game, was on for 70 minutes and was replaced by Gil Dias. Monaco were reduced to 10 men in the 34th minute when Ruben Aguilar was shown a straight red card.

Also, Samuel Kalu was yellow carded in his team’s 1-1 draw at home to Montpellier. The winger featured for the entire duration of the game.
